Edmonton, Canada’s Festival City

More than 50 festivals every year: music, theatre, food and communities from around the world. Here’s how to make the most of them, season by season.

Edmonton, Canada’s Festival City

A city that celebrates all year

Many people see Alberta as a destination for mountains and national parks. In Edmonton, cultural life happens in the streets, parks and squares, with more than 50 festivals a year.

In summer

Make Music Edmonton on June 21, the jazz festival, K-Days and Taste of Edmonton in July, then the Heritage Festival, the Folk Music Festival and the Fringe in August.

In winter

Ice on Whyte and Deep Freeze in January, then the Flying Canoë Volant, a francophone and Indigenous night festival, in February.

Our tip

Book early for the big summer festivals. Our Festival Experience, every weekend from May to September, lets you enjoy the atmosphere with a local guide.
